I would think an animal would have been the chewer on that one

if anyone thinks a human could chew up a musket ball like that... just try it!

I would rather have been shot with one than chew one up to the state it's in!

I found 3 French military buttons mere feet from that musket ball. French Indian war I believe ?

Looks like it might be teeth marks. Hard to determine if the bite marks were caused by human teeth.
Having someone bite down on something that could be swallowed was not an acceptable practice. If morphine was not available for life saving surgical procedures, the patient was restrained and usually screamed his brains out once the cutting began.
