Last weekend. I found a what. I believe is a Korean Bronze blade. It is very heavy, old and made of bronze
It was a foot down and appears to be an ax blade or edged tool.
The Bronze age ended in Korea around 200 AD a bit later than in Western Europe.
It is definitely and edged tool or possibly a weapon.
The other item is a Japanese Edo Period (1603-1868) Samurai sword relic.
It probably adorned the scabbard. It is made of a Japanese alloy called Shakudo which is 95% copper and 5% gold.
This alloy gives this item its black patina. The rope Patten is gold gilt but the leaf is solid gold and looks to be at least 18K but could 24K. The item was broken in half as found and one of the pictures shows what it would look like if intact.
The scary thing is I almost tossed this thinking it was zinc junk due to weird color.
Fortunately upon closer inspection I realized that the leaf was solid gold inlay.
I really love this hobby for such surprises
