Yes, much to my wife's embarrassment, I always check the Coin Star machines... I've always found just clad. This time was, well, different.

2 wheats, one is a '43 steel. A NYC transit token, a washer, two other tokens of some kind, and the dime/memorial pennies.

Still adds to your finds count. Nice tokens. Even though newer.

You need to get your wife to check it FOR you... that would be a good trick!

Whats the trick to checking the coin star? I always walk by and never see anything in the slot... do you reach up in there?

Thanks & nice finds!

No tricks. I see something in there one in 10 times I check. It's just in the reject tray.

Ok thanks. The coinstar I see in Walmart is next to the customer service line... prolly why I never see anything, but I'll keep looking =)

I do the same thing to my wife when I go shopping with her. Always check the Coinstar. I have found coins 4 times this winter with one being a 1954 Washington quarter.

Nice. I have never seen a coin in one of these machines ever. They are always empty.

This past winter the Walmarts moved all their Coinstars around the Phoenix area to the Customer service area. Probably so they can watch the rejects themselves.

One day I'll get a silver. But a silver Washington?! Way to go.

So I get home from work today, and my wife confesses that she peeked in the coinstar at Walmart....while she didn't find anything....

I had never been so proud.:laughing7:

That steel penny sure is a sweet find. They sure don't look that pretty after being buried for 7 decades.

Grocery stores that have small branch banks in them often have a coin counting machine for their customers. Different machines than coinstar but with reject bins. The one I check most frequently has a little plastic door you need to push in and then feel around for coins. Found over $20 in coins inside that door a few years back, so I always check it, but it's usually just filled with nasty bits of crud requiring hand washing immediately afterwards.
