Went to a 91 y/o abandoned farm house to help a farmer find a $150 part to his tractor that he lost. After ten minutes found it, can't remember what he said it was. He then said I could mess around the house if I wanted. Didn't find any coins, did find an old compact, a button (?), a shell from a small pistol, and a Barlow pocket knife in pretty good shape. It was wedged under a big root 4 inches under the ground. Almost gave up on it, glad I didn't.

Oh yeah, I am waiting for baldingboy to go on vacation and come back and then I am taking him with me. I seem to find more stuff when we go together and it is so much fun when someone is around to share in the thrill of the hunt! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Barlow brings back memories. I was a little kid with my grandpa on the farm in South Georgia and every country store or hardware store had a display of Barlows. I saved my money so I could proudly pay the $1.99 for it. It caused the wearing of many band-aids and a couple of stitches once. Great find and thanks for the memories.

I do believe I was taught how to Whittle with an old Barlow knife. My grandpa and I spent many hours whittling sticks while he talked...Thanks for bring back an awesome memory!

nice finds! did the top of the compact have anything on it?

I thought I posted pics of them here but it was on a different forum. This is the top and bottom. I put the two dings in the bottom of the thing darn!! The top scratch and bottom scratch was already there when I found it.
