first of all congratulations, looks like you are having quite a year man. I missed this post but that gold coin is amazingly killer. These guys are just giving you there expert opinions, don't take it the wrong way,. No archa here, but my guess is it probably was soldier dropped considering where it was found and what was found around it. What else can we do but associate finds with other finds that fit the same time period off any giving site? But like most things, can never be 100% sure. Banner!
Enjoy your finds and your hunts are producing Civil war artifacts and period coins. I was looking at your frame and noticed the carved bullet with the #4 on it. That is a good piece and makes it all that much more human when carved by some soldier. You are on a hot spot and no reason to defend your treasure. I will say everybody loves the hole shot but to each their own. You make me want to get out and hunt as soon as Turkey season is over here.

Killer finds. Really killer finds. A gold coin is something most of us will seek forever, yet never find.
We want to see these finds and hear about them. Crop and rotate the pictures, then tell us a little narrative about the time you found a gold coin. This is a big deal for those of us that don't find this kind of stuff every day.
You sure are keeping them coming. I would start new posts for some of these artifacts, like that last buckle you showed. Many won't return to this post thinking it was old news. You don't have to convince me about the coin drops being CW related, I have been a believer from page one. You will never change a mind of a skeptic so keep digging and posting, you are on a roll. Thought the coins would have been Banner by now.
I'd be happy to find a seated half dime or any gold coin in a lifetime. To find both laying together in the same hole, nothing else matters!! Awesome day!!
You got my banner vote for two untouchable coins for most of us found in the same hole.
Congrats!!
