Spanish 1/2 Reale Cob and an Mystery Medallion

Found yesterday in a field in the area of the North River about 6 inches down a Cob that I need help identifying. I would be happy to have one of the experts identify the age and mint area. The medallion was found along Narragansett Bay in an area of activity during the Revolutionary War. Would appreciate help in identifying.

As AARC suggested, you may wish to start your own thread regarding your coins versus (what we call) 'stealing' the thread from the original poster.The coins you have shown are called 'maravedis'. The rectangular coin appears to be part of either a 2, 4 or 8 maravedis coin that was issued between 1816-1836 by Ferdinand VII, King of Spain. The full coin looked like this:

The other side of your posted rectangular coin might show a number next to the King's chin; that is the denomination.

Medallion or Scottish equestrian perhaps it was a pin attached to a kilt or bagpipe , just a thought .
Coin is killer , one of the best looking cobs ever posted............ imho

Thank you i appriciate that,,but the coins i found are dated 1653 (aside form the one 1870)..and many differ quite a bit from the one u posted..and unfortunately the back of the rectangualer one is to worn

Very interesting - and I think your coins are worthy of their own thread. Please start one and I'm sure you'll get many more answers than photobombing Rhode Hog's thread.

Awesome cob with sharp detail. Definitely a thistle design to your other find. Do the provided photos show front and back? Is it made from brass? I would figure it for a leather mount or bridle boss, but how to secure it?

I believe your cob coin to be Potosi mint. Wave pillar variety. Looks like the date is obliterated. Great save! Potosi mint coins are always tough.
