Found My Oldest American Silver Coin (update-new pic)
Last month the kid and I got another chance to hunt our old Colonial site that's been so good to us. Found a few more silvers, one being my oldest American silver coin. Another big copper, a 1836 Matron Head and my first ever Shield nickel, 1868.
Before our hunt at the Colonial site we hit another site for a quick 1/2 hour hunt and I found my first ever SLQ with a date, 1925.
Back at the Colonial site the kid found his first ever Shield nickel then shorty after I found my Shield nickel. A little bit later and in the same area I flipped a plug and chased my target around in the hole with the pin pointer for what seemed forever. I had no trouble picking it up with the pin pointer, just couldn't find it. When I finally found it I thought I had Spanish silver. When I cleaned it up a little I was glad it wasn't Spanish silver. Lol
1835 Capped Half Dime, a bucket lister for me.
Almost forgot, working our way to the jeep and almost dark. I got a good solid 83-84 hit that screamed silver all the way along side the driveway. Flipped a plug and had a 1939 merc waiting to be saved.
Not a bad day to be out swinging for me, I found 3 first for me and my oldest American silver coin.
