Today we Started at The MRS. Rickert Site.
Though we didn't find anything but Lead, Shells & Trash.
we were able to locate a depression in Lillie's & Briars ,
that was almost certainly the Outhouse.
The site we believe the Cabin may have been has been Planted,
so back in spring

More time well spent with family and the detector. 45P war nickel and a petite watch that I sadly cut in half as I was pinpointed on the nickel and didn't expect two targets :(

As I sit here tonight eating mexican wedding cookies and having just turned off the a/c, I was admiring your finds and wondering (even though you love Pa) why you wouldn't just escape to the south or west part of the year. Jeff of Las Vegas, Jeff of Az, Jeff of Ca. In fact, I can guarantee that many of the women of Nevada own ranches and I bet getting permission to MD on them wouldn't be that difficult. By the way, it really is nice to see pics without 6 feet of snow in them. Just a thought...

Good post, as always.

That place looks like it might have some rough digging. Do you use a long handled plugger in places like this?

considering how much time it took to get to it,
I'd guess it was off an Indians 1 Horse, Horse :unhappysmiley:
deep in hard Driveway , between tree roots .

yep :laughing7: I'm guessing Kids blazer type jacket

Yea I have my 22" Wilcox
$_57.JPG
mine of course is specially adapted for Prying when Necessary.
so I can't bend the Scoop prying roots & Boulders.
at some spots the ground is like thick Butter, I can push it straight down 6" - 7" inches. others I need to push or chip away with the weeder

and of course My 13" weeder

DSCF0002.JPG

is on me at all times.

they get a workout too

I was thinking more like one that can be used whilst standing. I'm starting to feel the strain of that small hand trowel type thing I use. I can make a much neater job but, all that kneeling and digging! It's starting to tell and I'm afraid it'll just get worse. I would still use it in any park/schoolground/lawn/etc. But, I am *sorely* tempted to start using a long handled plugger/shovel. :dontknow:

yea the View of me using a Spade size digger while standing prevents me from doing that.
I use my long handle in most parks I do, Because I feel I do a better job cleaning up after myself with it. I push it straight down, & Pop a long deep Plug out leaving one side connected yet.
when possible.
plus I use it as a Cane to Push myself up off my Knees after. :laughing7:
But if I'm on a well manicured lawn, or public Pool, I try to use my weeder and Carry a small Finishing Pan for the excess gravel.

DSCF0001(1).JPG

especially If I expect to be watched & graded :tongue3:
