So I had a 15 minute hunt this morning.
This is my standard site for weekend mornings. I found an old ring, another silver something (ring I think) and then a large disc.
It was so large, that I did not register it as a coin, but I have a 1901 Silver Dollar in my hand.

Never found one before.

Pics coming, but I was so stoked, that I came home to clean my new coin.

Shortest. Hunt. Ever.

Here are the pics. The coins come out of this place in very corroded condition.
I am not sure how much to clean this yet, I can't find my coin book.

This is in a heavily hunted site. It was a foot down, on edge. I pinpointed it, dig 8" down and the pinpoint signal started skewing to the side. Another few inches of dirt out, and my pinpointer located it in the corner of the hole. I am finding quite a few items like that at this place, as they are marginal signals. It did not register as a dollar, it was a dime/copper signal at first.

Love those 'firsts'.

This is my first dollar, and my oldest silver.

Funny we were just discussing the other day how a great find doesn't spur you on but sends you home....lol

I probably would not have left if this was not the closest site to my home.

I go there every weekend morning, so it is my regular hunting site.

I will probably be back there before noon.

I just had to check the date/mintage/value in case I had a key date in my hands.

Still a thrill, though.

I'm just the opposite a good find equals at least 2 more hours

Its doesn't stop me either, but the wanting to take it home & ID it, doesn't focus the hunt in the right direction, & we may do 5 hours instead of 5.5 or 6.

Silver doesn't come out pretty where I live either, I think it is setting in soggy ground. Anyway, tarnished or not, that is one beautiful coin.

Still very nice even with corrosion. I've never found one of those.
