Hi Scrappy. Yep meaning you think it is a cannonball?

Oh hey man. I'm not sure. I said yep because it's either a cannonball or something else. But, I have a good feeling. It may be a civil war exploding shell

I don't know, but if I were you, I wouldn't have it anywhere near your house until you found out for sure!

Actually I agree with mirage now that I looked...
These look like the ole Civil War Boreman fuse type balls... but now after a quick research...

Shot put.

Better to error on caution though :P

CBG - Cannonballguy would be in the area of expertise on these balls as well IF it were a CW cannon shot.

My question/warning would be that if ANYone finds something that might be something that might go

B O O M!!!.

Please do yourself and your family a favor, do NOT bring it home like the puppy that followed you home at the end of a rope when you were a kid! These things may or may not be dangerous, that we dig up, BUT....... well....you understand.

At the VERY least, check it out first!!!

Just my opinion, but I would rather not read that a poster will not be here any more because they blew up their family and house. :dontknow:

Why don't you get a flat head screwdriver and some WD 40 and try to open it up? :)
