I have been really lucky over the last two weeks in mid-Michigan with getting 3 Firsts for me!

Started with an Indian head penny, and I have rescued 7 since then ranging from 1887-1907.

Next was my first buffalo nickel, and it was a 1920.

Tonight I pulled out my first V Nickel, and it was a 1907.

In that same time I have been able to pull two nice bale seals. One is a railroad seal and the other is from Port Nigra Falls.

My birthday month of May has been really kind to me. All of the hunts have been 2-3 hour hunts after I have put my 1 year old son down to bed for the night.

Thanks everyone for viewing! I appreciate this site so much and it really adds to the experience.

Dan

Congrats on not just one, but three firsts. You've obviously got on some good ground and know how to use your machine. It's nice to be able to check coins off the bucket list and a lot harder to do once you move west from the east coast. Although I've found over 100 Indians so far this year I always love finding them. Nice going.

Congrats on three first for you and some nice looking coins at that. I have a hard time finding a v-nickel with decent details.

**STARTING to learn my machine lol this deus is a beast, but I still have so much to learn. Have not been able to pull any silver coins this year. I know they are there, just need to figure out my machine for those yet.

No complaints though, they are some beautiful coins! I may or may not have busted out some dance moves for each of these finds.

Thank you!

I upgraded my first detector, which was the Whites Coinmaster GT. I just started detecting last year and thought that was a great entry level machine, but this year craved some depth and recovery speed. In April I bought the deus and can't ever see going to anything else.

I haven't yet. My son goes to bed right at 6p, so I can get out to my spot by about 6:30p. The sun is setting around 9p now, so it gives me a couple hours of daylight. I do have a headlamp and gear in the car if I am feeling froggy. I am sure I will attempt that sometime soon.
