6 hours kicking dirt at the 1600's farm _____for 2 cents--------

but then this is the 2nd FLYING EAGLE from the site. did a few seconds with Brillo then a light buffing with wet 800 grit to get details. a quick electrolysis for the heavy iron may reveal a date. IMG_3137.JPG IMG_3138.JPG IMG_3139.JPG

Fantastic flying eagle & wheatie finds & congrats! In my area it is impossible to get permission to hunt areas form the 1800"s & early 1900's and I have learned that people did not have every day pocket change to lose. Anyway thank you for posting pictures of your finds & I wish you many more while out dirt fishing.

I'm glad a little 600 grit helped. It's helped me plenty of times with copper blanks. Great flying eagle

WOW!! 14 likes for a penny---I 'ze gots ta dig ups some moe o' dem. seriously___a 1/2 hour trip to the Ruffled Feather Beauty Emporium (read that as electrolysis), here are the new photos. the reverse looks pretty much DOA :-( IMG_3140.JPG IMG_3141.JPG finished the field today & left with a #*^|@% memorial Lincoln, busted horse shoe and a nice ornate thingy sumthin', looks like sand cast brass, pics posted Friday---no eye deer what it was, but it be pretty durned old. also got a lump to be posted Friday that weighs 8 1/2 ounces. it is a tapered cube 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 1". thinking this farm was in the strewn field of the Shandaken, NY asteroid (25 miles from the impact crater if Hillary flew on her broom)
