Went to a permission where the house was built in 1828. Nick told me it would not be a problem to detect today since he was just going to cut down some dead trees. I pulled a 1907 Barber dime the last time I hunted there. This house was part of the underground railroad and was station 98..

I hunted for 4 hours. Most of the targets came from the front yard. I did pull a 1926 Merc and a couple wheats (1939 & 48). These coins were 8" deep. The crotal bell was also about 8" deep. I'm thinking that I need to hunt the front yard again after a soaking rain if I want to find any of the 19th century coins that must be deep. I used my 12" x 15" SEF coil during today's hunt since I already gridded most of the yard using the stock DD coil.

Looks like you had a good day. I spent the day with family and took my two young grandsons out in the front yard to dig up a few pull tabs, but they love to detect with Pap.

What's up bud? Excellent hunt and permission. Keep that up man. You're detecting like one smart SOB and I have no doubt you're going to come up with something big very soon. Anyway, let me know when you're coming East and you'll receive a true Baastards welcome (canned sardines and hot sauce) Lol. Joking aside let us know brother.

Great finds and keep it up

That is one sweet bell. If the 26 Mercury was an S, you would have a semi key date.
Congrats on a really good hunt.

LD The Crotal bell is awesome!! It has The makers mark initials. See if you could look them up and find out exact time period It was made and where. There are a lot of experts on the site who can identify it for you. Nice Merc, congratulations and happy hunting
