Tesoro Vaquero - Empty Sterling Silver Money Clip? I'm Not Really Sure

I went back to the site where I found the Walker a few days ago to see what else I could unearth. The house was built in the mid twenties. I decided to use my Vaquero since it doesn't miss much and runs smoothly at high EMI areas.

Where the sidewalk and driveway meet, I got a loud audio response. I had high hopes that it was another Walker or maybe even a silver dollar. Nope! It's what I think is a very old sterling silver money clip. That was a happy surprise, but I needed to score a silver coin before I could head for the house.

I worked for an hour or so before I finally corned one, a 1945 Mercury dime. It gave off a nice soft whisper audio response that usually means a silver coin. It was getting to be around 10:30 and the heat was picking up, so I headed for home.

Vaquero settings with the 5.75 concentric search coil: Full sensitivity, a little negative on the GB, a very slight threshold and I had discrimination set just barely high enough to discriminate out a nail. Today I dug a couple of holes that had both a nail and coin in them.

This was my 66th hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 192. I only need eight more by the end of June. It's doable!

Love that Silver! Does that say "Shelby D jr"? Is it too small to be a bracelet? Obviously the "Jr" would indicate a guy, and I'm probably asking an ignorant question, but is Shelby a guys name?

Dang tabman, you certainly know how to sniff out the silvers. :occasion14: You better be getting out earlier if you want to beat the heat and pull 200 silvers by the end of the month.

Doubt it's a money clip. If it were, the clip would rest firm against the back of the piece - for us "poor folks". :laughing7:

That's a nice clip...can you read what is inscribed on it?
Thanks! It says Shelby D jr.

Sweet, sweet silver! :occasion14:
Thanks! I had to give one of my Tesoro detectors some run-time.

Thanks! You got the name right. I read that Shelby is a Woman's name about 90% of the time.

Thanks! Yeah, it's best to get out early and I try to hunt in the shade when I can. The thing that I hate most is the dew. It makes detecting a messy business.

LOL You can squeeze it together for leaner times.
