Hi all,
Happy to cross this one off the want list, I've been looking for a while.:laughing7:

Saw the Anchor, figured it was a Rev item, but not sure which Navy (possibly Marines) it was from til I got home and opened Troianis' Rev Button book .

Seems to be closest match to BNC.s on page 10.
Not the Continental which tops my wishlist, but British Royal Navy Captains and Commanders Cuff Button:headbang:
(later used by other officers)
Better condition than most salt copper of this vintage, it came from a pier foundation that is rife with military buttons Rev era through 1830s
that I have literally hammered for years.
Squeeked out this tiny button using a machine I purchased for backup when Minelab was phasing them out to sell more ETracs,
the venerable Explorer Professional. it seems more sensitive to lower conductive targets than the CTX, and 95% as effective overall IMO.
I do miss the rock solid large diameter shaft design of the CTX, no flex there when I do my fast coil wiggle in search of the elusive repeating tone.
It's in for a checkup and test after enduring three years of heavy use, Sure am glad I planned ahead and grabbed the Explorer for $700 NIB.
Thanks for looking and HH all, Herbie.

That's a great looking button my friend. I'm still searching for my first Rev War button. How many have you pulled from this particular site? Congrats on knocking one off the bucket list

Thanks Ahab8, a single block USA button is the only definitive, several brass/copper scripts have appeared here, condition makes impossible to be sure, they may be Rev, most of the buttons are Federal/1812 issues.

Thanks Scrappy, I am a bit amazed at the amount of smooth surface, usually cuprous items of that age have mostly pitted and very little smooth, opposite of what this one displays.
