Very nice old dime. If you didn't know that is not .900 coin silver like our coins. It is actually .925 or sterling silver.

Thanks I found those skeleton keys over 10 yrs ago.. Remember them when I was a kid in the 1940's

Very nice I found an 1886 Canadian quarter its my aoldes coin I wonder if its sterling also not sure what that means. Great find though keep it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is sterling silver. It means that it has more silver in it than our American coins. Coin silver is .900 pure and .100 copper. Sterling silver is .925 silver and .075 copper. Canadian coins minted after 1920 are .800 silver and .200 copper. So it only means if it is a scrap coin it is a tad more valuable as scrap silver.

However coins that old probably are not candidates for the scrap pile. I scrap most my water silver though.

I have been there of and on for a few years now.. I found Indian Head pennies there also 1865 few years ago.. Its a huge park that goes back to the late 1880.. 1865 Indian Penny.jpg
