I found it couple miles from my house here in Manassas Va area. You never know, lots of soldiers moved west with their gear in the post war years. Hope you find one bud!

Lots of soldiers came out west after the war. Some of them to fight the Indian Wars they would have brought their Gear with them. You definitely have a shot at it.
