I am posting this for my buddy. I have tried to get him to join tnet for some time but he's dragging his feet. Anyways, he's looking for info on this john deere thingy he dug. He's looked it up and found similar things but nothing quite like this. What is it? Age? Any value? Any info would be appreciated!

ps. Its about the size of my hand and has a concave shape

not sure what it is, maybe an ashtray or coin tray. when the company updated their logo in 1940, the log that the deer was leaping over was removed so your item will pre-date that

Way to nail it David680!

1912 is the year that particular logo was trademarked. Prior to that the deer displayed four legs and according to the John Deere website, portrayed a deer common to Africa.
