Well I thought I would try for some more capbadges on the Dump field & got a couple (that I need again).

A hallmarked silver ring - Birmingham - 1894

Star find - A coin which has been on my top 5 wish list for years:

Julius Caesar silver Denarius - dated 49-48BC - 100 years before the conquering of Britain.

Julius was the first to invade Britain but failed. Looking at the coin it has 100 years of wear & although minted in Rome came over in the late 1st century AD.
See better example:

THIS IS OUR FIRST ROMAN 'BC' COIN - WHOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO :o :o ;D ;D

Wow! That is a great coin. Should make the banner and stay there for a long time. Would like to think I'll make it to Colchester someday. Enjoy your moment. Eric

Thanks, I'm still getting over the shock, last thing we expected. Yesterday was my worst day in ages & today a find of a lifetime. This is an amazing hobby. Hope I can still do it at 90 years old!!!

Also note the strange coincidence - the capbadge found shortly afterwards has a small elephant on the bottom. After over 50 badges this is the first with it on. SPOOKY

Well the only way to go now is a Celtic Gold Stater or a Roman Gold Coin. Very unlikely, but thats what I thought about the Bronze Age until this year. :)

Re: <<<HIT THE JACKPOT>>>

Doesn't it seem incredible that the maker of that coin was sitting there thinking, "What date shall I put on this coin?" "Let's see, Jesus is going to be born 48 or 49 years from now so I'll date it 49BC, that should work." Just kidding! You keep outdoing yourself with each new find. I can't even contemplate finding something 2,056 years old! You are truly a "Treasure Hunter". ;D ;D
