we went to an area where there is a small protected monument area for the battle field but 100 yards away is an old grade school that has turned into a community center, they said we could detect there so off we went, some interesting history for the area there http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/entry.php?rec=660 , so we tried our luck hopeing to find buttons or a belt buckle or just some old change. Buffington island is the name of the monument located in a small town of portland. found some clad ,cans ,toy cars, a couple door latch things and a coin of some kind i cant read but is very light, i have never seen one like it maybe you guy's can help us out on it ! and a spigot of some kind , not sure what it is or used for maybe someone who see's this will let us know. found lots of trash such as cans pulltabs screw tops we didnt save or take pics of them but i did find a clad quarter that after i got home i can not find, must have fell out of my pouch anyway its lost again. we had a great time met some good people who told us to come back and was out for about 5 hours . hope you enjoy the pics thanks for looking ;)

I don't know what those spigots are used for. I found one exactly like it in a union camp. Barrel tap maybe ?

Looks like a nice site, might want to go back there next spring when the ground is a little softer and you can find things deeper.

Good luck in your future hunts at this site.

I did not clean mine at all....other then run water over it. Yours is in nicer shape than mine...I would expect it to fetch more money than mine brought. GL
