Got one just like it and one that is completely smooth and smaller. Is there a casting mark(pontil there)? Was told mine might be a meteorite.

If someone made something like this there had to be a reason.
Agriculture, mechanical uses...or war.

In this case I say war.

Here is a canister shot I found, kinda looks like yours.
Case shot, grape shot canister shot, similar but could be slightly different sizes.
Mine is about 1 3/4" and about 1.5lbs.

Looks like grape shot to me. Being close to the fort site shores up that possibly.
