Hi All,
It has been a long time since I posted. Between work, family and promoting my book, I have been real busy. Anyways my kids and I dug a privy recently. It ended up being a 1900's privy, but kept digging because doing anything with my kids is priceless.

Well got some milks, flask and assorted other bottles. Then dug a real cool find, a bottle with the pills still in it. The bottle was about 5 feet down and it is amazing they still were in great shape. Okay thanks for looking and every one Keep On Keeping On!!!!!

I wouldn't try one!! I wonder if a druggist could find out what one is?

Strange find for sure. Thanks for sharing.

The police have test kits that can determine if the pills have an opiate base.
Got any pictures of the other bottles?
Congrats on spending time with your kids.

What do they taste like?

PS. You could always get your kids to try them first to see if they were safe.

These were probably some nasty tasting pills back in the day and some kid tossed them in the privy so he wouldn't have to take them anymore!!

I would imagine you'd want to keep that prize with the memories of your kids and all, but if you did want to sell, I would think there are any number of pharmacies throughout the country that would pay well just to be able to add that to their ever-growing collection - some of which may already be exhibited in their drugstore. Nice find!!

Did anyone ever think that the reason they still exist is because the person wanted to end it all and was told to "swallow the whole bottle" and they did

I think this is an incredible find! Looks to me like little, if any, liquid entered the container. If it had, my guess is the pills would have deteriorated much more. Think about it. How well to tablets such as aspirin or ibuprofen hold up after being submerged for even a minute? My guess is a visit to the nearest university that offers a doctorate in pharmacy could give you some clues regarding what they are.

I'm curious

Thanks for posting...who knows, could be a banner find? When was the last time anyone posted a dug, sealed vial containing tablets from maybe the late 1800's to mid 1930's? (just guessing....they look old)

I say congratulations to you and your kids!
