Roamed the barley stubble - bits 'n pieces and a bomb

Walking through the barley stubble with a buddy brought up a couple finds, nothing spectacular, but it's always nice to cross some fields off the list. Finds go down to medieval with a nice big annular brooch missing the pin and go further with a buckle. More came up from the 17-1800s with musket balls, ramrod mount, coins with one Silver to save the day, lead, two religious pendants, pocket knife and other stuff. Interesting is the lead plug with stamp. WWII trash like usual too. When digging an incendiary bomb the Brits left behind it was time to move on to another site. Waiting for the better fields, wheat harvest has begun yesterday. :headbang:
Thanks for looking!

In fact these are the finds of 5 fields with one in the periphery of a roman site. You know it best, with old land around anything has a chance to get under the coil. :occasion14:

Good to see you are getting out Lu. What are the things that look like gaming pieces in with your lead balls? They have 2 grooves and a tit on the bottom. Is the one button with a crown from the Franco-Prussian era? Good luck.

Hi Tim, the gaming pieces are musket balls most likely for the Prussian M1839/55rifle. They have the common Prussian caliber 18mm. Same as the big round balls which are for the non rifled M1839 before the 1855 upgrade to rifled barrel. The "tit" you see is from casting and not cut off correct. You're right with the button, it's a late Prussian military button. In use till WWI.
