I've been working a lot so these are from last Wednesday! That morning I had to meet my brother at the courthouse to finalize my mothers probate and thus close the final chapter on a life well lived.
Afterwards I was bummed so of course I went metal detecting.
A couple of months ago I had found and returned a wedding band to the son of a couple who had worked with my wife before retiring. Now the husband works at an old recreation area that used to allow swimming to members of the mill community. Swimming is now allowed to only select groups but I used to swim there as a kid and people have been swimming there since at least as early as the 1940's. So he asked me if I would be interested in detecting there and of course I took him up on the offer.
After finding a couple of quarters while out in the water with my AT pro I received a faint signal in the 90's. I scooped out several scoops and found that I was digging out a hard clay. The next scoop produced a beautiful shiny dime and turning it over I saw that it was a Mercury dime, my first. I also found a lot of coins and 2 silver rings. While looking over my finds that night I saw that I had a war nickel and that the dime was 1941, the year Mom was born. I handed the dime to my wife, she looked at it and said today of all days.

My condolences on your loss. Definitely not coincidence. Good hunt, good finds and a chance to clear your mind.

Sorry for the loss of your Mom. I agree with you that finding that '41 dime was NO coincidence. Right after my Dad dies three years ago, there were several occurences that were so freaky they couldn't have been anything other signs from Dad.
