    Cloisonné . It makes since that it would survive being the material that it is but to dig and recover one of that age is amazing. Will you be able to keep this piece?

    That thing is FANTASTIC man I cant begin to imagine the process of creating that so long ago. So the center inlay is an enamel type thing, but the parts that stick out look like they have stones in them. Or perhaps they just shaped a piece of glass to fit in there. Killer find Cru!

    Yes they are shaped bits of glass with various mixed colours, think of making them!

    Although you could flip a coin as to whether it was a Viking or Saxon, I like to think its heads I win. Because I have a special interest in their history & artwork.

    I'm pretty sure it's associated with the still used Roman Track-Way & I imagine a wealthy Viking (Anglo-Scandinavian) galloping along on their horse, & the pin breaks & it fly's off.....
