Half Real and Local Dog Tax Tag In a Field

Went out into a friend's field Sunday and found these two cool things. A 1781 Half Real (Second one this year) and a 1907 Dog Tax Tag from my town. The heart shaped one on the left is the new one from Sunday and the 1908 butterfly one on the right is another one i found a few months ago. When i dug the first one i was so stoked because i had no idea there was a dog tax in my town. I mean how would i know? Finding history is so cool. Ive found a bunch of old coins and things people would perceive as more valuable, but i would have to say that these dog tax tags are probably my two favorite finds so far.

Nice finds (especially the tag from your town)! Some towns have a "historical" collection - they might be interested in your Dog Tag. I can see it now - this 108 year old Dog Tag is on loan from BeenFishin.

Some really cool finds. Congrats! I recently found at 1919 dog tag from my own county. I showed to the licensing folks at the courthouse and they didn't even know that tags were issued that far back!

Update: Donated the dog tags to the local historical society. Got the paperwork to prove it too
