Well, I had family obligations this weekend but I managed to sneak away this afternoon. Did an hour in a new spot. It was completely overgrown as usual but the barn area was open...

I'm very curious about this flat button. It seems early and hand inscribed, but I've never see a straight bar where the shank is. It is brazed on and j have doubts to it serving as a pin. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1472429679.716833.jpg any thoughts?

One of the coppers is a KG3. The other is broken, and the face is corroded, but is probably the same as the other. One side can see Lady Britannia.

Anyway, enjoy and good hunts!

Steve

UPDATE: I found the other piece to that cracked half penny, about 15-20' away! That's a first

That's a good hour.
My guess is a flat button hand made into a pin as you suggested, a one-of-a-kind.
I agree 100%. Great observation
Yes I like that idea.
What furthers that idea is the brazing looks less-than-professional, perhaps suggesting a its homemade.
Great hunt man  As we discussed, I think it was a Monogram Stick Pin similar to these, with the pin piece broken off yours... perhaps the reason it was lost!

Anything that is engraved is pretty awesome :headbang:

I think you're spot on, and with Rick's observation and Cru's approval, it's in all likeliness a homemade monogram stickpin!

Dang you guys are good! With the button style and design I would rate it to the late quarter of the 18th C.

Great finds! I'd have a very hard time pulling myself away after an hour and digging that stuff up.

I did, but went back today for 5 minutes. Yes, five minutes. I have a job where I'm on-call, and got called away. But not before I found this.... ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1472516885.954295.jpg
Those two pieces are the rest of the cracked British half penny I found yesterday. The deus sniffed those out;)

Nice finds! Like that Crotal bell and copper but that engraved flat button/stick pin is really awesome. It's also cool you found the other two pieces of the British copper! Congrats and HH

That's pretty impressive buddy. That stick button is a really neat find. Unique and home made. Keep practicing pal. So you're sharp for the fall. I heard you may be getting on some nice early sites

I missed this one, Sweet hunt!! Love the Crotal bell and coppers.
Pretty Awesome finding those missing pieces to that half penny, that doesn't happen too often. Couple years ago I found the other half to a Swiss pocket knife that had silver handles and one time the kid and I found 3 different pieces to a pewter spoon over a couple different hunts.
