Well, I had family obligations this weekend but I managed to sneak away this afternoon. Did an hour in a new spot. It was completely overgrown as usual but the barn area was open...

I'm very curious about this flat button. It seems early and hand inscribed, but I've never see a straight bar where the shank is. It is brazed on and j have doubts to it serving as a pin. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1472429679.716833.jpg any thoughts?

One of the coppers is a KG3. The other is broken, and the face is corroded, but is probably the same as the other. One side can see Lady Britannia.

Anyway, enjoy and good hunts!

Steve

UPDATE: I found the other piece to that cracked half penny, about 15-20' away! That's a first

Congrats on another successful hunt Steve. :occasion14: What number does that Crotal Bell have on it? How many coppers have you dug so far this season?

Thx for looking Kevin. There's no visible number on the bell. Several of mine have numbers but this one lacks. Coppers? Not sure...maybe 24-30?

All nice finds. Is it possible the button had a normal shank that broke, and somehow got straightened?

That's what I was thinking... the loop broke off, and got straightened out. Whatever it is, it's cool, especially since it is engraved.

Congrats on the successful hunt Scrappy!

That's a good hour.
My guess is a flat button hand made into a pin as you suggested, a one-of-a-kind.

Great hunt man  As we discussed, I think it was a Monogram Stick Pin similar to these, with the pin piece broken off yours... perhaps the reason it was lost!

Anything that is engraved is pretty awesome :headbang:

Congrats on the successful hunt Scrappy!

Thx Tom. The hand engraving and "custom" shank makes it one of a kind. Those finds are what I always remember over most coins.
