This summer I've been very fortunate to be able to try my hand at detecting in the old lake that I grew up on (and where my Mom still lives). Over the summer I've found a pile of clad, a couple of wheats, a token, a plated St. Anthony pendant and a couple of silver rings (one that I posted about a few weeks back). It's been fun learning how to use the long handle scoop and how to use my feet to guide where I dig.
On Saturday I made what might be my last trip of the summer to the lake and spent about 4 hours in the water. I did manage another 87c in clad, but I also found yet another silver ring in neck-deep water. It was dark gray when I pulled it out of the scoop and I recognized it as a spoon ring. It is marked - made by International and is in fact sterling silver. Does anyone know how old the original spoon may be? I see that the company was founded in 1898... And based on the tarnish, it looked like the ring was in the water a long time. Thanks in advance for any insights- and thanks for looking!
