Hi everyone, I'm writing to you from beautiful NH while I am on vacation. John did a bit of detecting today and found a large amount of buttons and a mystery coin. I do not have my coin book with me, so if any of you can ID this, we would greatly appreciate it. As for the buttons, we're curious about the shiny grayish one on the left of the photo, as well as the one with writing on it, it says "extra rich." Of course, I'm posting this from my cell phone, so I'm not sure how these photos are going to come out. OK, here you go. Thanks and hope all have a good night.--Lisa & John

Looks to be a King George II Lisa. 1727-1760 if memory serves. I'm on my phone at work so I'm not positive

Abe, thanks for your thoughts. It didn't match anything in John's American coins book, so I'm betting you're right! -L

Thanks, Down. Looks like about 29 mm, so the closest would be the halfpenny. Nice! -L&J

Thanks, Port! Any ideas about the shiny gunmetal-color button on the left in the group photo? It's a new one for us. -L&J

looks like a TOMBAC, so figure early to mid 1700's, any design on front? when clean they tend to look like a war nickel--silvery grey. good guess>>>the oldest of the group, the rest are likely brass, but the 6 sided one is quite unique---never seen that type. y'all got what I would call a MAJOR HONEY HOLE keep makin' us say WOW!!

Port, I'm pretty sure the fourth photo down is the inside of it. It's a weird button-the front is hollowed-out. Thanks for the info. I'll Google Tombac when I get a chance! The honey hole is a-buzzin'! -L&J

Thanks, Tommy, I had read about Hessian buttons sometimes being found in Massachusetts, so I was curious whether this might be one. Tombac--cool! -L&J

Thanks, Iron. I'll try to clean it up a little bit. There are a couple of letter showing, so I'll see what I can do.-L&J
