I started off the day (late last night) by heading to the beach to see if the rains and wind had done some good......they had not! I walked 6+ blocks, found about 15 cents and decided where I was was obviously NOT the place to be. I boogied back to the car for a change of venue and by this time the rain had started to REALLY pick up so when I got to the next spot I sat for a while in the car, texting Max and Denny to inform them what special brand of idiot I was, out wasting my time in the rain. I finally decided to hell with the downpour, I'm here and I'm going out. As soon as I got on the beach, it stopped, not just tapered off, it was like someone turning the shower off. Perfect!
As soon as I hit the beach I was digging, non stop. Tgts were everywhere and even on top of each other. Dig one, recover it, check the hole, there would be another. I loved it! Within 10 mins I had the first ring, (10K 0.9 grams with stones) and a couple of wheat pennies and didn't think it could get any better but it continued....then the second one came out (10K 2.7 grams) and by then I was digging more wheats and the silver had started showing itself as well. After, I went home to chill until the next low and hit it again.
When I returned I found that Steve "Gigmaster" was there and had gotten some coins so I jumped in with him. It deff was not like it had been 6 hrs previous and I could see there was more sand on the beach than before. I was able to squeeze it for two more wheats and another merc dime.
In the end I came home with 2 Gold Rings, 2 war nickels, 3 silver mercs, 3 silver rosies, 15 wheat pennies and a nice 1906 V nickle. It was one helluva day. Lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
Good luck to all and thanks for looking! Here's some pictures:
