Today, I got out on the river with one of my good friends. We started working a spot we found earlier in the summer that was full of civil war history. We started pulling the normal fishing weights and sinker pieces but then the unexpected happened!
In one of the screens I noticed that there was a strange piece of pottery. It looked familiar to the Native American pottery that I've seen out west. Well turns out it is. This is Native American rope pressed pottery. I'm not sure of the age range of this but as I have never found any in VA before. And there is tons of it. There was a piece or 2 or 3 in each screen while digging.
The totals for the day where great. I think I ended up with 9 3 ring bullets many of them being swage base. 3 unfired precision caps, a beautiful eagle I, and a nipple off a musket, and a killer point.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting.
