Talk about iron signals... Left most of it behind. Couldn't carry it all. I'll repurpose most of this. Will offer the rest to a friend. Found lots of square and round stock, wagon wheels etc. 1474752730212.jpg

Might be a blacksmith shop but looks like just what I would expect to find at old farmhouse sites. I will say though, that is one of the better grouping of iron relics I've ever seen from a site, and its not hard to see it as a possible smithy.

Judging on what I left and comparing to other sites I've dug makes me believe it was a shop. But maybe this guy just liked to be well stocked.

That's some nice iron, looks like you cleaned it all up, which is good. My iron is often unrecognizable until I tank them.

dig until tired and then dig it all. That is some cool site you have there. Congrats! I like to see that old stuff out and repurposed.

There were a lot of farmers who also did blacksmithing, but only for themselves. Maybe this was such a farm.
