37 pre-1930 Wheats in one hole!

I found a nice, old (1920s?) silver pinback on Saturday and a few flat buttons, but no coins. On Sunday, I went back to the same site (densely wooded) and my first target was loud and choppy, did not sound like a coin. I dug it and found a wheat cent, then re-checked-- and the signal would not go away as I kept pulling wheat after wheat out of the same hole. I was using my NEL Tornado, so target separation wasn't great and I couldn't tell how many coins were buried. When it was all done, 37 wheats were extracted, years as follows (no key dates unfortunately):

1914
1916(x2)
1917(x3)
1918(x7)
1919(x8)
1919D
1919S(x3)
1926
1927(3)
1928
1929(x4)
1929D
(And one unknown-- worn date, possible counterstamp on obverse)

I scraped enough crud off of each with a wooden toothpick to see each year. There is one that may be counterstamped that I have to look at closer. Most are in great shape and have corrosion but not much wear from circulation. Definitely hitting this site again asap.

A few pictures of two that I mentioned earlier, both are "as found." The shiny 1923 was pressed against another coin, sort of odd that it had the most circulation wear by far despite being protected from corrosion.

The other is the coin that I thought looked counterstamped, but upon further review it may just be corrosion (looks like a word in front of Abe's mouth, at least to me ).

So it's not just me? It looks intentional, like someone put it there on purpose. I'll try to get a better shot of it (any guesses as to what it might be are appreciated).

I've cleaned and scrubbed (safely) many of the coins so far, and what looks like a word mentioned above on the the coin is still visible. It appears to say TRUTH and it's right in front of Lincoln's mouth. I've taken a picture under magnification and oblique lighting, but it's still hard to see. The date is 1917.

interesting . It appears absolutely Level & it doesn't have a circle like the 1923
or I'd suggest Pressure stamp from another penny.

only things I can come up with are counterstamp
or error coin. corrosion ? Maybe but odd if it is.
it appears to be created to look like lincoln is saying something.
thing is I didn't know they did things like that till the '70's.

ok since I don't know what is Damage, Wear or other




all I can suggest is it may be an early Hobo Cent.
however because it looks more like a stamp then a carving. I can't say.

Better to find 37 Wheats in one hole than to have to dig 37 separate holes. That's anot incredible find. I'm thinking that some kid may have buried that stash in a paper bag. That certainly was not a pocket spill. lol
