I'm always after colonial goodies if I have a choice, and I scored a super crusty NJ copper yesterday.

Many of you may not know that Treasurenet started a Colonial sub-forum. I posted my find there so check out the other posts as well. I figure the more people that know, the more colonial items will end up in the right place.

NJ Copper and bits (a Tnet link)

Cheers!

Steve

Awesome NJ copper! I watched my friend dig an 1802 draped bust large cent this weekend but couldn't make it that far back myself, just a handful of Mercury dimes. Way to go!

Congrats on the NJ copper Steve and on the other finds as well. It's just you and Bart for a while now right?

Well, maybe. You never know what Charlie is going to do. He already misses the stinky colonial dirt! Come on out east soon!

I remember Abe was so mad when I found my NJ Copper coin, made him get stung by bees, fall down cliffs and generally paddle miles in his canoe to find his awesome tree coin!

I think Abe enjoys the pain. I heard he jumped off the cliff and poked the beehive;)

No pain, no gain.

I don't ever think I saw your NJ. Let's meet up soon brother

Congratulations on your old Copper.
Thanks for the heads up on the new Tnet colonial site. I hope it has an educational flavor to it. I am so ignorant about what was used in the day to day life of our very early settlers.

Terrific, Scrappy, congrats! As you know, we've seen much worse condition on our coins--so yours looks great to us, hehe. -Lisa & John

P.S. - If we know for sure we have a Colonial-era find, I'll try to remember to post it in the Colonial forum. Half the time, though, we have trouble IDing our finds (like our most current post!).

I just checked out your post.

I have a pile of slicks that just bug the hell out of me. Chain cents? Liberty capped? A few very thick ones make me wonder. So any ID spares me some grief, lol.

I'm glad I can help spread the word. The more people that know about the new sub forum, the more successful it'll be. Knowing your finds I'm sure you'll have plenty of stuff to post there.
