I went back to the spot I found the Virginia button hoping to find a few more or a matching belt buckle, no such luck. I hit the area about 1 acre wide and this is what I managed to pull out.

This button came out of the ground looking real rough, I really didn't think I would ever be able to figure out what it was. The dirt was like sand and it was like concrete stuck to this thing. It took half a day to get it to this point.

20161022_073141.jpg Picture_20163124063139.jpg Picture_20163024063015.jpg Also found 2 other coins, one is a 1862 IHP, I can't figure out the other.

Picture_20161218061256.jpg This caught me off guard, I just thought it was a piece of lead someone melted for a poker chip or something. I started cleaning it and I saw some numbers. 1857, I believe its a lead bale seal. There is a lot more writing on it but I can't make out any complete words. Still a cool piece.

Picture_20162624062639.jpg Picture_20162824062805.jpg Picture_20162724062703.jpg I think this is what's left of a pocket watch, I tried to find the rest, but couldn't.

Picture_20163624063606.jpg I found this headless figure in a different section of the woods. Its heavy, not sure what its made of.

Awesome bunch of different finds! Appears to be a VERY old site you've got there, and with at least an acre to work with...man, looks like you'll be digging much more! Thx..ddf

Dave--love everything! Great post and pics. I think that coin you can't ID is showing the back of the coin upside down. It resembles one we've found before. I think is was a King George II farthing of halfpenny. Good luck with the ID and congrats on a terrific hunt. -Lisa & John

Love the button and other finds. I think your lead button is a hem weight. I have never seen harmonica Reeds eaten away on the edge like that are you near saltwater?

I started with just water, soaking and using a q-tip and tooth pick. I then replaced the water with Ammonia which really did the job.
