Went back to the CS camp where I found the 2 I buttons hoping for a few more and BAM, wasn't expecting this. While hunting around one of the springs out pops a 1731 French 12 Seul coin and what appears to be a fancy french spur as the Confederates didn't have anything this fancy and they all came from the same spot. I don't know what the other 2 objects are and a Ball button. The French originally settled this area back in 1817 so I guess you never no. This is the oldest coin I have ever found.

Wow, 1731 is impressively old! I've never seen that coin before, excellent find, as are the rest of your finds.

Very cool French silver! Haven't seen one of those posted before. Yep, that was a fancy spur!

Your coin is technically from the Windward Islands and circulated mostly in the West Indies during the 18th century. But one turns up every now and then here in Virginia. Myself and 2 of my hunting buddies have also recovered these, although mine is a cut piece. Excellent find!!

actually the town I live here in Alabama was founded by the French in 1817. I'm hoping for more French stuff.
