Today I found a Women of Woodcraft token.

From what I've read, well, let me copy and paste...
"Women of Woodcraft was a female auxiliary to Woodmen of the World (WOW), which was
founded in 1897 by Joseph Cullen Root. Women of Woodcraft covered the nine states of the
Woodmen’s Pacific Jurisdiction: California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah,
Washington and Wyoming. In 1917 Women of Woodcraft changed their name to Neighbors of
Woodcraft (NOW). In 2001 NOW returned to its roots and merged with WOW."

They were into erecting tombstones, commonly with tree/stump-like motifs, incorporated
into the monument somehow.

Here is my token - it is bronze, 1.5" dia. and smooth edge.
(anyone read Latin at the bottom of the token?)

here is the logo/emblem/shield of the organization in newer times, as seen on a tombstone that
was erected in 1916, so my token must be an older version of the organization emblem, since they changed their name
in 1917.

The Latin phrase translated means: "She flies with her own wings". You will also find the phrase on the Seal of Oregon Territory--as shown here:

Thanks to you and Wiki!
Yeah, that name isn't highly referenced, is it?
Found it on old mill property, so not too surprised, yet very happy for finding it!
I'll try carefully restoring it some, and give it to a local museum.

Thanks for that translation. I think I may need to add it to my signature line.

Forgot to add:

The token has the same on BOTH sides,
altho the side you don't see, has a big carbuncle of RUST,
sticking to it - where a nail had rested on it,
I saved it too, for illustration of the discrimination
ability of my machine! :icon_thumright:

I'm sorry for the poor representation of what the token looks like - here's a better image

yes, it is!
I found it here, but haven't looked for their emblem or logo on any tombstones in local cemeteries.
which would then account for that token being here.....
