Hey all, it's been some time since I've posted....time with the family and hardly any chance to get out...Glad to be back!!! Now I will have to catch up on all the great post most of you have been posting!
I managed to get out yesterday for 4 hours and about 8 hours today, here is the finds for the combined last 2 days...
I was finally able to knock off a big bucket lister off!! with a Luckenbooth silver trade brooch and about 5 minutes later I hit an early 1900's pocket spill, my biggest silver spill to date(8 silver-posting a few samples found)...Didn't think my day could get any better today after pulling out a 1920 fifty cent piece but I was able to squeeze out this nice little early 1700's trade axe!....Other finds include a perfectly working Mag lite, musket balls, buttons, and old crusty copper...Bonus of the day was the deer antler found right in the french cellar hole!.... I am just stoked about the native trade brooch!! Thanks for looking....

Congrats on the banner. When I see a great find, I always envision how I would react if I found it and that's how I decide if something is banner worthy to me or not. That brooch is one of those finds where I would be in shock if I found one.

Congratulations on some great finds and the banner!!:headbang:

I think the Luckenbooth Brooch was most likely made by a Iroquois silversmith and not a European import due it not having a Maker's Mark as most of the European import brooches I have seen have, this IMHO makes it a even more rare find as that many more brooches were imported than the ones made by Native Americans!!!

Here's a very good article written in 1910 on the subject.

Figured I'd post mine up here for those interested in these. Sorry for the crappy pic. This dates to 1760 exactly.
