All my finds from thursday, a revolutionary war British 35th regiment of foot neck stock buckle half, the 1798 lc has a die crack or 2 so hopefully a good variety. Thanks for looking HH 20160527_093059-1.jpg 20160527_091317.jpg 20160528_065639-1.jpg 20160528_065759-1.jpg 20160527_145800-1.jpg 20160527_150139-1.jpg 20160527_145738-1.jpg 20160527_145723-1.jpg

Oh, dear lord. Such a relic makes me quail. I just caught up with the original post, having missed it while being away from t-net for a spell. How did you restore it? What a museum piece.

Dear admin: I wonder, with items that might take time to properly restore and/or classify, if the banner rule of "finds/posts must be RECENT" is flexible at all?

This is an excellent point. It took time for restoration and identification but it was posted within days of finding it originally. Finds like this deserve to be on the banner.

I have to say again that this is such a cool find! I am not sure if it will be allowed on the banner but it deserves to be commented on to keep it visible in one of the less frequented areas of the forum. Congratulations!

So I think from now on I'm going to just post what I write in my banner submissions. Here goes:

"Utter rarity and eye appeal. Looking back through the banners in the last couple of years I couldn't spot anything like it. I do think it's true potential took time and professional cleaning to reveal, so would hope that this would be considered even though it is not technically a recent find."

WOW! Beautiful find! Definitely deserving of the banner! I'd try to find the other half as well...you just never know! As mentioned by another poster I found an 8th regiment example....both halves. Glad I went back and found the other half. I believe you should be able to find a pic of mine in that book...but just in case here it is. neckstock.jpg
