Bombed out on New CW camp-2 old home sites instead + an unusual button

[VOL1266-X]

After receiving 1.25 in. of much needed rain last night, Doug (Dman) & I resumed our search for the lost Yankee CW camp. The bad news is that the camp is still MIA but we stumbled onto two old home sites that date from the late 19[SUP]th[/SUP] century to WW2 period per the recovered relics (see pic). I dug the one piece brass button with shank & no back mark. “Bramblefind” found it in the big button book. He, Buckleboy, and William Leigh all think it may be late 1800s. Congrat's on the button and the other finds. Well Done. I enjoy watching Quindy and D'man on Utube. Great videos and some beautiful Tennessee scenery. I'm glad yhall' are finally beginning to get some much needed rain. It has finally rained here in Georgia for the first time in nearly 2 months.

I have found a similar flat button, one piece, the front is blank, back has a shovel, pitchfork, rake

Quindy.....that button should date prior to the 1850's. I respect the others opinions but if it's a 1 piece button then I don't think that it's from the late 1800's. I personally know William Leigh and consider him an expert on buttons so he is probably right but I still think that it's much older. Just my personal thought. Anyway, I like it!

I found this picture on another button web site but no information on it other than they want $9 for it. I think that it's the same button.

Nice hunt. I see you finding the camp in the near future. We are finally getting some much needed rain here to. Hope I can get out some before it turns to snow. Congrats on some cool finds.
