Dated 1911, very corroded was unsure how to clean soaked in lemon juice and cleaned with qtips under running water, i think it came out nice. Also located a flattened round ball. 1 other flattened round ball and a drop were found near by. The area had CW activity, I have been told flattened bullets were a sign of a camp close by. Soldiers would fire into the ground because they were not allowed to carry loaded in camp. If anyone know if this is true I would be happy to hear. Initially dug 2 pull tabs then the nickel, the vdi # was close so i dug alot more pull tabs, I also found a small 22 call with thick white patina. And a costume ring. The ring may be some type of gold plating.

Congrats on your first V. Yeah, those old buried nicks often don't stand up to the test of time. You did a good job getting a good deal of detail out of that coin.

Congrats on your first V Nickel. I soak mine in olive oil for a week. Helps to shine them up and bring out some detail.

Congrats on the nice finds, including your first V-nickel! Those are tough to find and usually come out red like yours. Hope you nab many more!
