Detected an abandoned road this weekend here in maine. Found a few relics connected with the surfacing of the road. The road is no more than a path now. The tar is all cracked up into small chunks. Thought I would see if I could find anything under the surface and this is a few things I found.

Found a ford key embedded in the underside of a piece of tar, dating to about 1920's. I also found a large ox shoe. It was just under the tar in a bed of sand. The shoe seems to have cement stuck to it. I think the ox was used to pull a grader or a scraper among other things.
