Hello Everyone,

Today, I went back to the “hunted Out” park in the beautiful 56 degree temperature. It was very windy and an occasional rain/mist, but the Minelab Explorer II with the Sun Ray stealth-5 was well protected from the elements. I love using the Explorer for silver hunting the tones are so sweet and unmistakable when silver is under the coil. Instead of the wooded area (saving for the cold weather where it will be the only place to dig) I hunted the dirt/gravel parking area overlooking a grass field. Usually this is very compact and is like digging through concrete, but after the snow and deep rain a 6” plug was soft and easy; albeit a bit muddy. I concentrated on a 30’ x 30’ area with large trees separating some of the parking area.

The area gave up two silver coins: 1898 Barber dime (6”) & 1940 Mercury dime (5”). The other finds were some clad coins and some junk. I hope to get out tomorrow before the next major freeze rolls in.

Thank you for looking,

GL & HH

Fine silver recoveries Doc, family xmas get together kept me indoors on this balmy day. The second half of the week is looking good for getting out. Great job on the dimes.

You certainly exploited the 50 degree weather Doc. If this was your last hunt of the year it sure was a good one. Gravely areas here in Ohio are not easy to dig. Congrats on 2 more silvers for you yearly total.

Glad you're still digging! John has 6" of snow on the ground, so looks like we're done for the season. Congrats, Doc! -Lisa & John

Hello Msbeepbeep,

If the "Weather Gods" are kind to us we may sneak in a few more hunts in Massachusetts! :dontknow: If not, we will be forced into the woods to continue hunting! :icon_thumright:

Regards,

Doc
