I've been on a 3 month long break from metal detecting, and got the itch to go out today. I'm glad I did. I found what I believe to be a 1700s era stock buckle. Its made out of silver and has a makers mark of DR which is the intials of a silversmith named Daniel Rogers from Ipswich, MA. I also found large cent (date unreadable), a dandy button, a sweet looking lock plate, some kind of pull knob, thimble, musket balls, and a flat button with writing on the back that says warranted orange rich. Can anyone tell me how much the buckle may be worth? Thanks for looking!

My gosh, that stock buckle is fantastic :headbang:. We don't see many of these dug at all, yet alone silver ones. Absolutely incredible find.

I took a closer look at my buckle this morning and noticed another set of initials D S. I'm assuming there the owners.

Does anyone have any idea how much it may be worth?

That's a very nice buckle, and I would have a hard time parting with it......the initials make it that much more nonnegotiable but there are those who sell their finds and I am not one of them.

I agree & many have over-looked this as a banner find in my books. VERY RARE.

The minute I saw the buckle I thought rare and beautiful. Most are found in pieces. That belonged to a wealthy man. Banner find.

Those initials put something already incredible right over the top. I bet you're right about them being owners initials. Perhaps if it was a house site you can research a probable owner maybe.

Oh my that is a truly incredible find....I wish more people could see just how scarce and amazing this relic is. If you can figure out who that buckle belonged to I would love to know the history....and I'm sure the family of whoever that belonged to would love to know the story. Please keep us posted and use Tnet as a resource if you need help. I think you have something extremely special there. I will be voting BANNER
