I had a great time at a group hunt this weekend! I managed to save a little history, see some old friends & make some new ones. My favorite find was a War of 1812 era Navy cuff button that was repurposed to sell to civilians. I thought it was a regular flat button until I cleaned the back off! Its still a debate on these, some think they were left over stock, some think a contract fell through and some think they are buttons that were struck wrong. Nonetheless a great conversation piece. I also found a nice Indian head penny, a mid 19th century mechanical pencil & other relics. This was my first time using the T2 & Im impressed, can't wait to see what this year has in store! Very cool button Josh. Don't think I've seen one quite like that. Great find!

Thanks Bill, congrats on your killer button! My buddy I was hunting with found one in Charleston, a larger size. It's the same exact design. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1484532278.562275.jpg he had actually mentioned it not too long ago so I knew what I had.

Well done Josh. That button is really sweet.

Good to see you at the hunt. I will post my finds shortly, it won't be in "Today's Finds" however, you will need to look at 'Didn't Find Anything".

Congrats sir!

Could be wrong, but I think the button is an 1820's-1830's US Navy enlisted mans button. Nice find!

What is the bit with the twisted wire loop ? kinda looks like a silver ring that had a bad day ?

It's a piece of jewelry, I'm assuming a bracelet. My buddies all found pieces. The clasp was marked Mexico 950. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1484598288.104090.jpg

You could be right, I didn't really have a way to date it but a similar eagle to some 1812 buttons but also kind of matches one that dates to 1820s-30s. It's very similar to this militia cuff ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1484598430.096200.jpg

Found with T2

That was not the question. Please go get your ATP, run it over the button, and tell peruna what it rings in as. Come on Josh, get with the program!
