Or, more to the point, broken field "walking". I found out,
very, very quickly, that my broken field "running" days are
long gone! ;)

What I mean is that there's a field I drive by from time to time
and it is ALWAYS overgrown, even in the winter! It is never mowed
so the weeds/grass are very, very long! So much so that it looks like
a large green carpet of matted grass. Even lying on it's side, the grass
is 3 to 5 inches thick!

I've always told myself that there just *HAS* to be stuff in that field!
And, if they EVER mow it, I'll be right there! Oh, every winter, when the
vegetation is at a minimum, I try to hit it. But, let me tell you! Trying to
walk and dig in this field is worse than any cornfield I ever stumbled on!
It's very hilly, uneven, and that grass keeps lassoing the feet! :(

Today I finally got one of those goodies I knew just had to be there. Not
really all that much but a first for me!

Believe it or not, this was the very first dig of the day!

I got this semi "can" type hit, first thought, "Too big". But, I was fresh and
had only fallen 3 times thus far. So I hacked away at this weed stalk. When
I uncovered this:

I saw the colors and said, hey! that don't look like a can!

2017 (25).jpg

As I hacked further and further, more kept coming.

2017 (26).jpg

Finally, all was revealed and I remember saying
Awww ain't that cute? Some really pretty kiddie bling!
Gotta admit, I was a pretty happy camper!

Unfortunately, the rest of the day paled. :dontknow:

Did manage this brass buckle, complete
with some original leather from the belt. :)

2017 (29).jpg

.....Let the games......

2017 (30).jpg

.......begin! :)

At this point I was really pretty happy how
this *JANUARY* day turned out!

But, believe it or not, it got a little better.
When I happened to flip over this one link
of the bracelet.

2017 (31).jpg

The WHOLE thing is SILVER!! LOL
(sans the "stones" of course)
Even the split rings! :)

2017 (32).jpg

Now, of course, I've found silver before BUT....
Not 44 GRAMS of it at once! This is the largest
piece of silver I've ever found!

Ain't life grand? :)

Thanks for peeking!

Nice find, dug a "can" signal last fall that ended up being a pocket spill of over dozen quarters. Most of the time just the crunching sound of a can...

Nice find Whadi. A lot of nice items turn up to be can signals. We just have to dig them to find out for sure.

That is a real sweet way to start out the year! Congrats!

I do believe the tug of war will be going on for a while!

You just knew "something" was there and you were right, it was.
And you're still all in one piece after a few stumbles! Awesome!

I would have needed paramedics standing by. Lol.

Does the AT read clusters of coins as a can? Or do you think soil has alot to do with it, or maybe the setting in the bracelet?
Just curious.

Thanks and I wasn't far from needing help to get home.
I was too tired to push down on the gas pedal! LOL

The "can" hit I refer to is one that is very loud, pinpoints as big, and usually
hits at about 80. I suspect that this bracelet was just bunched into a ball sort
of target. AND, the fact that this is a very heavy, solid silver! I don't skip a
target just because it's "too big", but, given the circumstances
it seemed to be a can. That help?
