Today was a busy day for me. I had so many errands to run! :(
And the weather was sooooo nice! Finally, I got a couple hours
free and just had to get my "fix".

I went to the soybean field as it was closest. Figuring that a couple
relics would beat no walk at all. :)

For the short time I could walk, it proved to be both fun and interesting.

For example, I happened upon a golf ball, (in the middle of a soybean field!?!) LOL

Anyway, When I saw it, I playfully waved the detector coil
over it saying, "I wonder if they ever made 'em with a gold core." LOL
AND....to my astonishment, it beeped!! Whaaaaaa!?!???

Well, it turned out that the golf ball just happened to be sitting directly
over a target. LOL

An old piece of lead. But, it sure gave me a laugh! :)
I said, Good one Lord!

And almost as if to answer me, I found this:

He looks a little better cleaned up but the poor thing
has had a REALLY rough life!

Here's the rest:

Another couple surprises:

Can only make out "WAR...." on the back of the shiny one. :dontknow:

To each....their own. ;)

He's had a VERY tough life and ultimately just thrown away. Until I came along
and lifted him back into the light of day. He'll have a special place in my display.
Warm, and comfortable. :)

Finding ANY old coin is always a thrill for me. But, to find this one,
here, and it being such a fine example of olden times. I mean, a 2 cent piece
is odd enough. But, holed with a square nail, and coming out when it did,
in this fine old field. Well, it just made my day!

Thanks for peeking folks!

Great job, Whadi! A 2 cent piece is among the many coins on my bucket list. The not so normal hole gives it great character. Stellar!

Now you can open up a driving range. A 2 cent piece is one coin most of us don't have.

Yeah, I kinda realize that this is a bit of a rare find. Funny thing is that many people don't even know we HAD a two cent piece! LOL
Another weird thing about my hunting is how I seem to be attracted to these types of coins.

Two cent piece - made approx 8 years - found 4
Three cent piece - made approx 8 years - 5 or 6 (nickel and silver combined)
Flying Eagle cent- basically made 2 years - I've found 6!!

Fascinating, ain't it! :)

Thanks!

Google carved golf balls and you might pick up a new hobby for when you can't go a walking. That is the coolest holed coin it has character.

I never carved a golf ball but as a kid, we used to split one open and unwind enough of the rubber band filling to wrap around two trees. On *opposite* sides of a road. :tongue3: When I car rode thru it, the unwinding sound it made coming off the poles was soooooo NEAT! LOL Sounded like a UFO and the car would stop to see what the h***! :icon_scratch:
