I got out to an old park yesterday. (50 degrees) This park has been pounded over and over.
I was heading for a hill that they say is where a Revolutionary War skirmish took place. On the way I noticed another coil swinger. He noticed me too because he started waving hello. I went over and introduced myself to this happy camper. His name is Geronimo. He was really having a good day. An IHP, a Silver Ring, and a Barber Dime, so far.
I decided to try the top of the hill and started working my way towards a path. After about an hour, my first silver coin of 2017 made it's appearance. A 1942 Mercury Dime. In the meantime , Geronimo recovered V nickel and another IHP. I managed a few deep Wheat Pennies, including a nice 1916 s. I got my second silver of 2017 about an hour after the first. A 1943. I do love Mercurys.
I dug up a small brass hammer that I believe is a gunsmith or Jewelers hammer. I posted it in the What Is It? Forum to try to get an age and manufacturer. Before the sun went down, I managed to dig a deep 1906 Indian Head Penny.

Double Mercs and a IHP would be a great day...and a new hunting buddy. Geronimo could be your GL charm

Good way to start the silver count for the new year!! I bet if you'd have found a third silver it would have been a 44 merc. Lol
Not a bad day at all, a couple Mercs, wheats and an Indian. Congrats!!
