A friend dug this today and wanted me to clean it for him. He thinks it is a toy but I am more inclined to say...doorstop. It is heavy, around five pounds but much of it is rust concretions. I think a kid would have given up playing with it due to the weight, and Hubley and midgetoys were much lighter to use and play with. Will repost an update after it is done bathing.

Cool find on the airplane. Should really be sharp once cleaned.

Yep, I'm inclined to think "Doorstop" also.
That Stop is probably circa 1940's.
Hubley, Spencer, Bradley and Hubbard, and National were the favored makers of Doorstops.
"The Doorstop Book: An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting" by John and Nancy Smith, will help in identifying if you can view it on line or locate a library that has a copy.
Good luck with the restoration.

just like my kids when they were young.....are we there yet, are we there yet:laughing7: I actually had to unplug my setup for the night. Bad weather coming through and my tank is on the deck outside. The last time I did a cleaning in a storm, a tree branch fell into the tank and caused a short in my annode-cathode alligator clips. It wasnt good for my charger or my clips.
